Description

The Galley Utility Supervisor supports the cleanliness of the Galley and culinary storing areas in accordance with the Company and Public Health standards. This position will supervise the Galley Utility Team with heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, washing walls, counters, glass, equipment, cutlery, utensils, as well as the handling, cleaning and transportation of food and removing waste. An ambassador for Public Health onboard, this hands-on leader ensures that all personnel in the Galley live and breathe the culture of Public Health and Safety onboard at all times.

Ensures all Galleys are maintained in a clean and orderly fashion and always to United States Public Health Standards and where appropriate local Health Authority regulations. Partners with the Public Health Compliance Officer to drive and nurture a culture of safety first at all times; Ensures the dishwashing areas are cleaned and ready for the Culinary Team. This includes pre-rinse, pre-soak, rinse, wash, and sanitize each type of plate, silverware, pot, pans, utensil, galley equipment and glassware; Ensures correct procedures with the Galley sanitation, which includes cleaning the Galley after every meal. Assists in maintaining proper food handling and storage procedures in accordance with Public Health and company policies; Assists in inventory and the movement of provisions; loading duties as required; Participates in actual cooking, preparation, or plate-up of food items as a member of the Galley Team as required; Responsible for all cleaning materials and correct storage of all Galley equipment; Handles and transports tools, equipment and supplies to other venues when requested; Responds to issues or problems quickly and efficiently involving relevant people as required and reports any challenges, complaints or service difficulties to the Head Galley Utility; Follows proper procedures when disposing of garbage and demonstrates cost and quality awareness and strives to reduce breakage and wastage; People Management

Model and hold others accountable for promoting the Gold Standards, respect and fair treatment; Ensures the Daily execution of Line-up in accordance with company standards and Brand Guidelines; Sets the department’s expectations for desired behavior, knowledge and skill levels; Coaches others by providing constructive feedback; helps others identify developmental needs and monitors progress; promoting an environment where everyone is valued and included; Demonstrates alignment with corporate strategies and initiatives while ensuring alignment throughout the Yacht organization; Qualifications

Valid Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) and flag certification for the duration of the contract and appropriate to position; Minimum 5 (five) year of experience in a General Galley Utility; Outstanding knowledge and experience in Public Health Standards related to USPH and HACCP procedures; Good Knowledge of storeroom operation and procedures, as well as the handling of perishable goods; Good time management skills, ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines; Ability to work in a fast paced, hot environment;

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The Lady or Gentleman must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.; All Yacht Ladies and Gentlemen must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills. Full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.; All Yacht Ladies and Gentlemen must be able to communicate in the English language in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors and co-workers.;
