Job Title: Recreation Attendant                        
Department: PROS – GOL!                 
Reports To: Recreation Manager - Facilities
Classification: Part- Time, Non-Exempt
Compensation Range: $14.81 - $21.81 hourly

Position Summary
The Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Department is seeking a dedicated, highly responsible and customer service-oriented individual for the position of Recreation Attendant. Recreation Attendants are responsible for interfacing with guests in order to meet or exceed guest needs with respect to facility, program or service needs. This includes providing information, implementing or carrying out pre-planned programs or activities, assisting with program planning, cash handling, enforcing policies and/or procedures, and generally representing the department in the most quality and service-oriented manner possible.

General Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions
  • Open and close facilities as scheduled
  • Complete daily operational checklists and maintain activity logs
  • Handle monetary transactions, operate a cash register, and complete associated paperwork accurately
  • Rent or sell equipment and provide clear instructions on usage
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with patrons, staff, and community members
  • Provide site supervision for program participants and spectators
  • Support recreation programs by assisting with:
    • Scorekeeping
    • Practice and game oversight
    • Concessions
    • Field and gym setup and maintenance
  • Set up and take down equipment for programs and events
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of facilities
  • Represent the department in a service-oriented and professional manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements
Compensation will be determined by the applicant’s full skillset with consideration of the following:
  • Must be 15 years of age or older
  • Must pass a state and national background check
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented
  • Prior experience in recreation, customer service, or facility operations is preferred but not required
Hazard Notice
This position requires physical activity in both indoor and outdoor environments, often in cold, snowy, or icy conditions. Tasks may include lifting up to 25 pounds, shoveling snow, and performing movements such as bending, kneeling, and climbing. The role also involves regular interaction with the public and occasional conflict resolution.

Physical Activity & Work Environment
  • Stand and walk on all surfaces, including snow and uneven terrain
  • Perform physical tasks such as climbing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and reaching
  • Lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Shovel or push snow (minimum 6 inches) as needed
  • Work in indoor and outdoor environments, including high-altitude and cold weather conditions
  • Stamina to perform facility cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming

All Lake County Employees may be required to work as a Disaster Service Worker when a local declaration of emergency or disaster is declared by the Board of County Commissioners. To be prepared for this role, all employees and emergency service function (ESF) leads will attend emergency management trainings and exercises as requested by the Director of Emergency Management. With advanced notification from OEM, employees will make reasonable efforts to attend training events in coordination with other employees and supervisors.
