Superintendent – Custom Residential / Self-Perform Crew Lead

Location: Napa Valley

About Us

We’re a general contractor specializing in remodels and custom homes, from Napa Valley estates to Lake Tahoe mountain retreats. We self-perform critical scopes including framing, siding, and finish carpentry to maintain our standard of craftsmanship. We’re seeking a hands-on Superintendent to cover our projects in Napa Valley, that leads from the front — guiding crews, solving problems on the ground, and holding site quality and schedule to a high bar.

 

Role Overview

As a Superintendent, you’ll supervise and work alongside a team of in-house carpenters and skilled laborers, ensuring quality execution of self-performed scopes. You’ll coordinate with subcontractors, uphold jobsite safety, manage daily workflow, and directly influence schedule and quality outcomes. This is a field-based leadership role — ideal for a builder who is just as comfortable reading a set of plans as swinging a hammer when needed.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations for self-performed work (framing, siding, rough/finish carpentry)
• Set pace and quality expectations by example — visible leadership on site
• Supervise and mentor 3–8 crew members, managing workflow and accountability
• Collaborate with Project Manager on look-ahead schedules and logistics
• Coordinate subcontractor integration to minimize site congestion and delays
• Enforce safety protocols and site cleanliness
• Review and interpret drawings, field dimensions, and scope details
• Proactively identify and solve field issues to prevent rework
• Track material needs, deliveries, and crew productivity
• Communicate daily progress and jobsite conditions clearly

Qualifications

• 5+ years in custom residential construction, with 2+ years leading field crews
• Proven experience in framing, siding, or finish carpentry — hands-on proficiency required
• Strong working knowledge of residential construction sequencing and plan reading
• Comfortable managing both in-house trades and subcontractors
• Reliable truck and basic toolset preferred
• Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with team, trades, and clients
• Familiarity with Cal/OSHA jobsite safety requirements
• Spanish-speaking a plus
